Manchester United transfer news: Red Devils ready to break the bank as Tchouaméni wages cleared

Manchester United transfer news: Manchester United are ready to trigger a massive financial package for Aurélien Tchouaméni. According to Ben Jacobs, speaking on The United Stand, personal terms won’t block this deal. The 26-year-old Real Madrid midfielder wants a marquee salary. United will give it to him. He would instantly become one of the highest earners at Old Trafford.

Money isn’t the issue here. Capology puts his current Madrid wages at around £190,000 per week, a figure United can easily eclipse. The hierarchy feels remarkably optimistic. If the Frenchman tells Real Madrid he wants out, United will strike.

The real hurdle is Florentino Pérez. Madrid must agree to sell. Jacobs made it clear that the player’s contract demands are completely sorted. The groundwork is laid. Now, it is down to a straight negotiation between clubs, assuming United actually decide to press the button on a player Fabrizio Romano calls a “dream target.”

Why must Carrick and Wilcox walk away?

£70 million. Plus £190k a week on a five-year contract. It’s madness.

Tchouaméni is brilliant on his day, but his recent form simply doesn’t justify that kind of astronomical outlay. Look at his LaLiga campaign. One goal. Zero assists. Eight yellow cards. A completely unremarkable 7.37 FotMob rating. Ever since Carlo Ancelotti left the Bernabéu, the Frenchman has looked lost. He’s forcing passes, taking unnecessary risks, and trying to be a player he isn’t. Michael Carrick and Jason Wilcox cannot ignore this regression.

Then there’s the dressing room atmosphere. Remember the Federico Valverde incident in May? A training-ground brawl left the Uruguayan in hospital with partial memory loss and stitches. United are trying to rebuild a fractured culture. They do not need to import Madrid’s toxic baggage.

Smarter options exist right under their noses. Ederson is already through the door from Atalanta. Why ignore the domestic market? Adam Wharton and Carlos Baleba are younger, cheaper, and fully adjusted to the brutal rhythm of English football. West Ham want a silly £85m for Mateus Fernandes, and United quite rightly value him way below that, but the underlying logic is sound. Buy young. Buy Premier League-proven.

Tchouaméni has never played a single minute in England. The pace here destroys technically gifted continental midfielders who expect time on the ball. Carrick knows this better than anyone; he watched it happen to teammates for years. Paying £70m for an out-of-form player carrying heavy off-field controversy is a gamble this tight budget cannot support.
