Inter Milan’s pursuit of a £30m Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones has taken another turn, with the Serie A champions expected to return with an improved proposal after Davide Frattesi’s move to Lazio. Fabrizio Romano has reported that Frattesi’s departure formed the key condition for another attempt, while Curtis Jones has remained their priority since May. Inter previously saw several offers rejected, with the biggest reaching €30m (£26m), while Liverpool had valued Jones closer to €40m (£34m).
That position has shifted. The Liverpool Echo reports that Liverpool will accept €35m (£30m), bringing the clubs much closer together. Football Italia reports that Inter still need to manage wider sales, while Romano says the Italians now believe a deal can happen at around €35m. Frattesi’s exit has removed one major obstacle, although the transfer still requires agreement on the structure and payment terms.
Curtis Jones to Inter Milan makes football sense
Jones is 25, has Champions League experience and offers close control and press resistance that can help a midfield escape pressure rather than simply recycle possession. His 2025/26 Premier League campaign produced 1 goal and 2 assists in 34 matches, with 18 starts, while StatMuse records a 92.1% pass completion rate. Across all competitions, he scored five goals and four assists in 41 appearances.
There’s a catch for Liverpool. Jones remains useful, but his role could become awkward if Andoni Iraola demands greater verticality and more aggressive transitional running. Selling for £30m would look sensible if Jones sits outside the manager’s strongest plans, particularly with Liverpool pursuing Adam Wharton and needing room for squad investment. Keeping Jones simply because he is homegrown makes little sense if Liverpool cannot secure a new contract.
Curtis Jones to Inter Milan now has a clear price
For Inter, £30m would represent a strong purchase for a 25-year-old with Premier League and European experience, especially after Frattesi’s exit. Jones can carry the ball, retain it in tight areas and cover several midfield functions, giving Inter depth and technical quality. Thomas Tuchel omitted Jones from the 35-man England group.

Curtis Jones to Inter Milan now hinges on whether Inter meet Liverpool’s £30m threshold rather than whether Liverpool still want to sell. Given the reduced valuation, Frattesi’s departure and Inter’s long-standing interest, this has moved from speculation to an actionable deal.
