Alejandro Balde transfer news: According to a report from Cadena Ser, cited by Four Four Two, Manchester United have placed a firm transfer offer on the table for Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde. The 22-year-old’s position at Camp Nou has turned brittle fast. Manager Hansi Flick left him out of a recent matchday squad, publicly calling for greater commitment and intensity.

Barcelona’s permanent re-signing of Joao Cancelo, combined with Flick’s obvious tactical preference for Gerard Martin, has left Balde staring at a crossroads well before the window shuts.

Alejandro Balde transfer news and the United case for him

Luke Shaw’s performance in that 2-0 defeat to Hull City settled the argument United’s supporters had already been having. Michael Carrick’s recruitment team moved quickly. Lewis Hall was evaluated. So was Myles Lewis-Skelly. Neither came close to being available.

Balde, despite a €1 billion release clause embedded in the 2023 contract he signed, is attainable because Barcelona are financially cornered and Transfermarkt values him at €50 million. United’s offer sits between €30 million and €40 million. Balde has reportedly given his green light to the move.

Alejandro Balde transfer news: The medical question Carrick can’t ignore

Carrick’s team would be securing an elite modern fullback at a bargain. Balde’s 2025-26 La Liga numbers are legitimately impressive, with 93% passing completion across 1,144 completed domestic passes in a Barcelona side still finding its identity under Flick.

He also registered 18 tackles and 35 clearances, which makes Flick’s intensity complaints feel somewhat contradictory. At 22, across 38 appearances in all competitions, including eight Champions League games, he produced three assists and showed he can carry a high defensive line without wilting.

The problem is January 2024. A tendon rupture in his right hamstring altered everything. Spain dropped him from Euro 2024 and the 2026 World Cup squad entirely. Barcelona managed his minutes carefully, substituting him out of 13 matches to protect his physical load.

The Premier League offers no such cushion. Carrick must have United’s medical department absolutely certain before committing to what would likely be a five-year contract. The value is real. So is the risk attached to it.
