David Miller’s availability for the T20 World Cup has come into doubt after he picked up a possible groin injury during the Paarl Royals’ match against Joburg Super Kings on Monday. The South African batter was forced to leave the field in the 16th over while fielding, and later did not take part in the run chase for his team.
The exact nature and seriousness of the injury are still unclear. Miller did not give much detail after the match and said, “I don’t know, we’ll see tomorrow when I pick up. Obviously not ideal.”

South Africa’s T20 World Cup campaign begins on February 9 with their opening match against Canada in Ahmedabad. They are placed in Group D alongside New Zealand, Afghanistan, the United Arab Emirates, and Canada.
List of injured T20 World Cup-bound South African players
Miller is the third player from South Africa’s squad for the T20 World Cup 2026. Tony de Zorzi sustained a hamstring injury during South Africa’s tour of India in December last year.
Donovan Ferreira suffered a shoulder injury in the ongoing SA20. Ferreira was fielding near the boundary for Joburg Super Kings against Pretoria Capitals on Saturday. He dived to stop a four on the last ball of the innings but landed badly on his left shoulder, and the ball still went to the boundary.

Despite the injury, Ferreira came out to bat later in the match. He was acting as captain because Faf du Plessis was ruled out with a thumb injury. Ferreira faced just one ball but struggled to move his arm and retired hurt. After the match, he said he was not feeling well and would go for a scan.
