Manchester City have reportedly reached out to Nottingham Forest about a massive summer move for midfielder Elliot Anderson. A new report from TEAMtalk, shared by @SkyBluesXtra, which is doing the rounds among City fans on X, says the Premier League giants are ready to pay between £80m and £100m to bring the 23-year-old to the Etihad.

While Manchester United have a long-standing interest in the former Newcastle player, they are looking at other targets for now. This gives Manchester City a clear run at the deal. The club’s bosses see Anderson as the right player to lead their midfield into the future, and the player’s team already knows City are serious.

At only 23, Anderson has become one of the best midfielders in the league since moving to the City Ground in 2024. His value shot up after he chose to play for England in 2025. He turned down Scotland and has already earned six caps under Thomas Tuchel.
Being a homegrown player makes the Englishman more expensive, but City usually do not mind paying high prices for players who have already proven themselves in the Premier League.
The move makes sense. Anderson has a rare mix of skills; he can break up the other team’s play. He actually led the league in winning back the ball halfway through the 25/26 season, and he’s still as comfortable on the ball as Pep Guardiola requires. Anderson carries the ball forward with a direct style that City sometimes miss when Kevin De Bruyne is not on the pitch.
With all the talk about how much longer Guardiola will stay, the club seem to be buying players who fit his style but would also work for a manager like Xabi Alonso. Even though £100m is a huge amount of money, Anderson’s age and ability to play different roles mean he could run City’s midfield for the next ten years.
