Arsenal are at a truly fascinating point in their history. The 2025–26 campaign is the club’s 100th consecutive year in England’s top flight, making them the first team to reach that milestone. Mikel Arteta‘s side started this year still dealing with the fallout of a messy 2024–25 season, but have since rebuilt with real purpose.
Even after back-to-back losses heading into April cut their trophy chances from four down to two, the Gunners handled the pressure. Kai Havertz grabbed a stoppage-time winner against Sporting CP in Lisbon on 7 April, giving Arsenal a 1–0 win in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final. Now, the Emirates is ready for the second leg next week, with the tie leaning heavily in Arsenal’s favour.
Arsenal want Eduardo Camavinga
With that sense of ambition returning, summer transfer targets are already starting to emerge. Reports from Sky Sport CH, via the Mirror, suggest Real Madrid are open to selling Eduardo Camavinga if they receive a sufficiently high offer, with the Spanish giants reportedly seeking £70 million for the 23-year-old Frenchman. How has the midfielder performed?
So far in the 2025–26 season, he has made 35 appearances, putting up 2 goals and 1 assist over 1,865 minutes of football. His last year was a struggle, though; a torn adductor tendon in April 2025 ended his season early and kept him out of several major finals. The way the Frenchman bounced back this year shows he has plenty of grit, even if he is still more of a rotation player at the Bernabéu than a guaranteed starter.

The report claims Camavinga’s agents have reached out to both Arsenal and Liverpool about a move to England, while Saudi Arabian clubs are also keen. The two Premier League teams are said to be leading the race, though the player himself isn’t actually looking to leave Real Madrid right now.
Scorzo’s Take
On paper, Arsenal’s interest in Camavinga is easy to understand. He has the exact profile Arteta likes, as the midfielder is physically strong, technically gifted, presses hard, and can drive the ball forward. But there’s a problem: Camavinga’s recent form doesn’t quite match that £70 million price tag. He spent a large chunk of 2024–25 out of favour in Madrid before that serious injury made things worse, and his 2025–26 numbers, while consistent, haven’t been world-class.
Spending £70 million on someone who has spent two years trying to find his rhythm is a massive gamble for Arsenal, especially since they already have Martin Zubimendi, Mikel Merino, and a locked-in Declan Rice. More importantly, the simple fact that Camavinga doesn’t want to leave Madrid should make Arsenal think twice. You rarely get the best out of a player who has to be talked into joining. Arsenal need a midfielder who is all-in from day one, not someone being pulled away from a club he still loves.
