The player’s brother and agent, Karamba Guirassy, flatly told Sky Sports: “No agreement of any kind has been reached.” That blows the race wide open. Villa and Fenerbahçe are now the two frontrunners for the Guinea international, who bagged 22 goals and six assists in 46 games for Dortmund this term.
Then there is the chaos between the sticks. Emiliano Martínez is reportedly one step away from joining Juventus, leaving a massive void. Villa aren’t panicking. Reports from Spain suggest they have reignited interest in Real Sociedad’s Álex Remiro. With only a year left on his contract, he is available for a bargain price of €8–10 million. Monaco want him too, which complicates things, while James Trafford and Zion Suzuki are also on the shortlist.
Why the Dortmund striker makes perfect sense for Villa?
Guirassy is a no-brainer. Tammy Abraham is sidelined after surgery, leaving Ollie Watkins as the only recognised senior striker for a brutal 50-plus fixture campaign. Watkins is brilliant, but he cannot carry Europe and the Premier League alone. Guirassy brings physical presence, aerial dominance, and a proven Bundesliga record. He even turned down massive Saudi money to stay in Europe. He wants the big stage.
The goalkeeping situation feels a lot riskier. Remiro is cheap, experienced, and a compatriot of Emery. His previous €50 million release clause has plummeted. But he turns 32 in January. Replacing a totemic World Cup winner like Martínez with a short-term fix is a massive gamble.

Youngsters like Bart Verbruggen or Anatoliy Trubin make far more sense for a long-term project. Remiro just plugs a hole. To make matters worse, Arsenal are sniffing around Morgan Rogers.
