Rangers transfer news: Fresh claims from Turkey have pushed Youssef Chermiti back into the transfer spotlight. Transfer Feed has relayed comments from respected Turkish football commentator Ertem Şener, who claimed the deals involving Can Uzun, Aleksey Batrakov and Chermiti appear to have reached the finish line, with Galatasaray pressing ahead to strengthen Okan Buruk’s squad.

Şener went a step further. He claimed Buruk has made the 22-year-old Portuguese striker his first-choice attacking target ahead of other names under consideration. That immediately caught attention because Rangers only signed Chermiti from Everton for £8 million, and his value has climbed after an outstanding first season at Ibrox.

Current reports place his market valuation at around £10 million. Even so, Scottish outlets have consistently maintained that Rangers have no intention of entertaining offers unless a bid lands that completely changes the conversation. There has been no official confirmation from either club, leaving the story at the speculation stage, although Şener’s comments, carried by Transfer Feed, have added fresh fuel to the discussion.

Selling Chermiti now would create a huge problem for Rangers. His numbers tell only part of the story, because his influence stretches well beyond goals.

Across the 2025/26 season, he scored 15 goals and supplied five assists in 40 appearances. 15 of those goals arrived in just 30 Scottish Premiership matches. Throw in league hat-tricks against Hearts and Falkirk, plus crucial braces against Celtic, and it’s easy to understand why Danny Röhl built his attack around him.

Timing matters as much as quality. Rangers are chasing silverware at home while competing against Jagiellonia Białystok in the UEFA Europa League third qualifying round. Pulling their leading striker out of that picture in August would leave an enormous hole that money alone can’t patch overnight.

There is a figure where business sense begins to outweigh football logic. It certainly isn’t £10 million, and Rangers already showed that by refusing an earlier approach worth around £13 million.

A straight £25 million offer deserves serious thought because it would produce roughly a £17 million profit on last summer’s £8 million investment, even after Sporting CP receive their 12.5 per cent share of the profit. That money could strengthen several positions without placing the club under financial pressure.

Anything below that misses the point. Chermiti is 22; his value still has room to grow, and replacing a physical 6ft 4in striker with proven Premiership production at this stage of the window would be an unnecessary gamble. Rangers hold the stronger hand, and there is no reason for them to blink first.
