Lewis-Skelly Transfer News: Arsenal are happy with their 19-year-old academy graduate, Myles Lewis-Skelly, yet a sizeable bid could still force a serious conversation before the summer window closes.

Lewis-Skelly Transfer News has taken another twist after intermediaries reportedly offered the versatile teenager to Manchester United and Chelsea. Standard Sport reported that approach, while the player himself has not indicated that he wants to leave Arsenal. Manchester United need another left-back, and Wayne Rooney has called a potential move a “no-brainer”, especially if Arsenal would accept a fee around £45m.

“I don’t think you can rely on Luke Shaw to be consistent for the whole season and that leads me to Myles Lewis-Skelly,” Rooney said on the Stick to United podcast.

“We’re hearing that he could be available for not that much money, so I think that’s an absolute no-brainer.

“If you can get a player in who can play left-back and centre-midfield, that’s an absolute no-brainer. He’s young, and he’s got a massive future ahead of him.

“Arsenal have spent a lot over the last couple of years, so selling Lewis-Skelly makes some sense, as it would be pure profit. I don’t think it would be a great look, but I can see why they might sell him.

“If you’re United and he becomes available, it’s a no-brainer; they definitely need to bring in a left-back. That’s a priority for United.”

Richard Garlick has tried to calm the noise. Speaking publicly, Arsenal’s chief executive praised Lewis-Skelly’s progress and stressed that the club remain very happy with his position. Yet Garlick later added that Arsenal would consider the “right opportunity” for homegrown players, which leaves a small opening for a substantial bid.

He said: “Myles has had a fantastic end to last season and he started this season really well, and as I say we’re always looking to retain and build on our best players.

“Obviously there may be speculation; I’m not going to go into that from other clubs, but we’re very happy with Myles and the position he’s in at the club.”

However, in an interview with the BBC, Garlick seemingly left the door open for a potential sale of Lewis-Skelly as well as fellow academy graduate Ethan Nwaneri.

He added: “We’re not actively looking at selling those homegrown players, but if the right opportunity came up and it was right for them and right for the club, then we’d obviously consider that.”

Lewis-Skelly Transfer News and Arsenal’s position

My view remains straightforward: Lewis-Skelly should stay at Arsenal when the window shuts. He turned 19 on 26 September 2025, became an England international under Thomas Tuchel, and scored on his senior debut against Albania. He has six caps and one goal for the national team, while Arsenal used him across left-back and midfield roles.

The timing matters. Arsenal have already spent £75m on Bruno Guimaraes, and Piero Hincapie adds another option around the left side of the defence. That can squeeze Lewis-Skelly’s minutes, but his Community Shield performance offered a sharp reminder of his usefulness: he assisted Riccardo Calafiori inside the opening minute of the 3-0 win over Manchester City.

There is a financial argument for selling him. As a Hale End graduate, a £45m fee would represent a major accounting gain, especially under the Premier League’s Squad Cost Ratio rules. Arsenal could improve their numbers by moving players such as Fabio Vieira or Reiss Nelson instead, without sacrificing a teenage player who can cover two positions.

Lewis-Skelly Transfer News and Manchester United interest

United’s need makes the story plausible. Luke Shaw is entering the final year of his contract, and Newcastle have rejected an approach for Lewis Hall, leaving Carrick’s side searching for options. Yet United have pursued cheaper routes, while the £45m figure for a 19-year-old remains substantial.

That is why I expect Arsenal to resist unless somebody seriously overpays. Lewis-Skelly wants to fight for his place, Arsenal value his development, and selling a Hale End graduate after a strong Community Shield display would create needless noise. For me, Lewis-Skelly Transfer News still points to a transfer story without a transfer at the end.
