His 1.85m height gives him useful reach inside his box, although the larger defensive totals reflect Real Sociedad spending long spells under pressure.

Yet Arsenal’s defensive standards leave little room for avoidable mistakes, particularly during a title race where one poor decision can change a match.
The Elche dismissal deserves context because the incident came from an involuntary handball, and the referee’s decision drew criticism from Sociedad. Still, the episode exposed a risk around timing and discipline. His six-minute appearance ended with a red card, and that is a costly lesson for a young centre-back.
There is another issue, and that’s price. Martín signed a deal running until 2031-32, so Real Sociedad hold strong negotiating leverage. A reported €50m valuation would represent a major outlay for a player Arsenal would initially use as a developmental option.
That money could address a more pressing need, especially with Arsenal requiring greater attacking depth during an injury-hit period.
