Chelsea transfer news has put an 18-year-old Sevilla midfielder back in the spotlight, with reports in Spain claiming Chelsea are tracking Nico Guillén. He completed two tackles from two attempts while committing five fouls and receiving one booking. That combination points to a player who still needs to improve his timing when defending transitions.
His physical profile gives him a useful base. Guillén has the frame to develop into a central midfielder, while his left foot can aid build-up. For Xabi Alonso’s Chelsea, the tactical appeal is clear. Alonso wants central midfielders who can circulate possession, resist pressure and support structured build-up. Guillén’s technical profile could suit that role eventually, if he develops his defensive positioning and duel work.
