Arsenal predicted XI vs Lille

Arsenal return to European action against Lille at the Emirates Stadium on Tuesday, 13 October, with a strong starting eleven needed to maintain their momentum. My Arsenal predicted XI vs Lille features a balanced midfield, creative options behind the striker and a defence capable of building attacks from the back.

Mikel Arteta has several interesting selection decisions to make for this fixture. Arsenal’s recent results against Leeds, Ipswich, Sunderland and Napoli suggest that the team can produce goals while managing different types of opposition. However, the 3-0 defeat against Brighton provides a reminder that defensive concentration remains essential.

William Saliba‘s reported back injury, which could keep him out until late November, creates a major selection concern. Christos Tzolis has a hamstring problem, although his absence does not directly affect Arsenal’s defensive options. Arteta must therefore find the right balance between his available defenders and the attacking threat Lille can offer.

Arsenal predicted XI vs Lille: Gyökeres leads the attack

David Raya should start in goal, offering composure when Arsenal play out from the back. Ben White takes the right-back position, while Ezri Konsa partners Gabriel in central defence. Piero Hincapié completes the back four on the left, giving Arsenal another defender comfortable in possession.

With Saliba potentially unavailable, Konsa would have to settle quickly alongside Gabriel. Their understanding and communication would matter, particularly when Lille press high or attack the spaces behind Arsenal’s defensive line.

Declan Rice and Mikel Merino form my preferred midfield pairing. Rice can protect the defence, recover possession and carry the ball through pressure, while Merino offers strength in duels and intelligent movement into advanced positions. Their partnership should give Arsenal enough security to release their attacking players.

Saka and Ødegaard provide the creative spark

Bukayo Saka should start on the right, where his direct running and ability to create chances can trouble Lille’s defence. Martin Ødegaard takes the central attacking role, linking midfield with the forward line and looking for openings between the opposition’s defensive lines.

Eberechi Eze gets my vote on the left. His close control, movement and ability to beat defenders would give Arsenal another route into the penalty area, especially when Lille defend in a compact shape.

Viktor Gyökeres leads the line. His physical presence, movement behind defenders and willingness to attack crosses could make him a difficult opponent for Lille’s centre-backs. Arsenal should look to supply him early while allowing Saka and Eze to attack the spaces around him.

This remains an opinion-based selection rather than a confirmed team sheet. Injuries, fitness and Arteta’s tactical choices could change the final eleven, but this combination offers Arsenal a useful combination of control, pace and attacking intent.

Arsenal predicted XI vs Lille (4-2-3-1): David Raya; Ben White, Ezri Konsa, Gabriel, Piero Hincapié; Declan Rice, Mikel Merino; Bukayo Saka, Martin Ødegaard, Eberechi Eze; Viktor Gyökeres.
