Barcelona Confirm Intent to Retain Manchester United outcast Marcus Rashford Permanently in Major Transfer Development

Fabrizio Romano has dropped a big update on Marcus Rashford’s future. He confirmed that Barcelona have directly told the forward’s camp they want to keep him at Camp Nou. Speaking on his YouTube channel, the transfer insider said the Catalan giants shared this with Rashford’s agents and family in the last 24 hours.

The England international is currently at the Camp Nou on a loan deal. While that deal has a €30 million buy option, the club’s leadership is already sold on him.

Romano explained that Barcelona really value what Rashford brings to the team, specifically his versatility, his professionalism, and the way he has boosted the energy in the dressing room.

Romano also noted that Rashford has been on fire in the first half of the season. He has kept his head down, stayed professional, avoided drama, and has completely found his feet again in Spain. Even though they don’t have to buy the 28-year-old yet, Barcelona have already assured him that he is part of their long-term plans.

Manchester United are aware of this serious interest, but the club will likely wait until later in the season to officially trigger the clause. It looks like a permanent move is the most likely outcome, as both the player and the club seem very happy with the current setup.

A Cut-Price Exit United May Rue

From a financial perspective, getting a player like Rashford for €30 million is a total steal in today’s market. Barcelona get a revitalised forward who clearly fits La Liga, while Manchester United settle for a relatively small fee for a player they raised in their own academy.

Rashford already has seven goals and 11 assists in 26 games. Given that form, his price tag looks much lower than his actual market value. If Rashford keeps playing like this, United might look back on this deal as a massive mistake.

On top of that, the Red Devils are watching a homegrown star hit his prime in a rival’s jersey. United might like the pure profit on the balance sheet, but the actual football tells a different story.

Rashford has clearly found a home under Hansi Flick in a system that plays to his strengths, something United struggled to provide in recent years. By letting the Englishman walk for such a low fee, United are basically admitting they couldn’t get the best out of him. If Rashford helps Barca win a trophy, the Old Trafford faithful will definitely have questions about why that buy-back option was set so low.
