Tottenham Hotspur is reportedly positioning itself at the front of the queue to sign one of West Ham United’s standout performers, as uncertainty continues to surround the Hammers’ Premier League future. With the two London rivals experiencing starkly contrasting seasons, Spurs are monitoring the situation closely and could be ready to act if circumstances align in their favour in 2026.
While Tottenham remain in contention for a top-four finish despite inconsistent recent form, West Ham are struggling near the foot of the table. They sit third from bottom and drifting further from safety, the prospect of relegation is becoming increasingly realistic a scenario that could force the club into difficult decisions over their most valuable assets.
Tottenham Hotspur grows closer to signing Bowen amid competition from Liverpool and Newcastle.
According to reports, Tottenham Hotspur are the most interested club tracking Jarrod Bowen, with Spurs viewing him as an ideal fit for a side with European ambitions. Bowen has long been admired for his versatility, work rate and end product. Moreover, he is seen as a player capable of making an immediate impact.
The England international has been a key figure for West Ham United since joining in January 2020, amassing 80 goals and 53 assists across 260 appearances. His consistency and leadership have made him West Ham’s standout performer during an otherwise turbulent campaign.
Tottenham are not alone in their admiration. Liverpool and Newcastle United are also understood to have long-term interest in Bowen. However, Spurs’ continued enquiries over the past four transfer windows suggest a sustained and serious pursuit, with Bowen and his representatives fully aware of that interest.
Should West Ham suffer relegation, sources suggest Bowen’s departure would be challenging to prevent, with the winger described as a “complete footballer” ready to contribute immediately at the highest level.
West Ham refuse to sell Bowen in the January window.
Despite the growing speculation, West Ham have drawn a firm line over Bowen’s short-term future. The club have no intention of selling their captain in the January transfer window, regardless of interest or potential offers.
Co-owner David Sullivan has reportedly made it clear that Bowen will not be sold mid-season “at any price”, with the club determined to retain their most important player for the relegation battle ahead. Bowen remains under contract until the summer of 2030, strengthening West Ham’s position in negotiations.
For Tottenham, patience may be required. While January is off the table, a summer move, particularly in the event of relegation, could see Spurs finally land a player they have admired for years.
