The USA kept their hopes alive for the T20 World Cup 2026 with a dominant 93-run win over the Netherlands at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. After posting a strong 196 for 6, the USA bowlers bowled Netherlands out for 103 in 15.5 overs to record their first-ever T20I win against the Dutch.

The victory came at a crucial time as the USA were in danger of early elimination from Group A.

Mukkamalla And Ranjane Lift USA To 196

Asked to bat first, the USA started with positive intent. Shayan Jahangir gave early momentum while captain Monank Patel bounced back with a quick 36 off 22 balls. He added 75 runs for the second wicket with Saiteja Mukkamalla to set the platform.

Mukkamalla then took full control of the innings. The young batter scored a brilliant 79 off 51 balls with five fours and four sixes. He kept the run rate high through the middle overs and brought up his half-century in just 30 balls.

After his dismissal, Shubham Ranjane finished strongly with an unbeaten 48 off 24 balls. His late hitting pushed the USA close to the 200-run mark, which proved more than enough on a surface that offered help to bowlers.

Bas de Leede was the best bowler for the Netherlands with three wickets, but the rest of the attack struggled to contain the runs.

Harmeet Leads Spin Charge In Chennai

Netherlands needed a strong start, but the USA bowlers struck early. Nosthush Kenjige removed Michael Levitt in the second over to put pressure on the Dutch side.

Harmeet Singh then changed the game in the power play. He removed key batters including Max O Dowd, Bas de Leede and Scott Edwards. Harmeet finished with excellent figures of 4 for 21 and broke the backbone of the Netherlands batting.

Shadley van Schalkwyk supported well with three wickets while Mohammad Mohsin kept things tight. Once the Netherlands slipped to 66 for 5, the result was almost certain. They eventually collapsed for 103, losing their last five wickets quickly.

This historic win keeps the USA in the race for the next stage. The Netherlands now face a must-win clash in their final group game. For the USA, this performance demonstrated belief, intent, and strong execution under pressure.
