Lucknow Super Giants pulled off a stunning three-wicket win against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in one of the most exciting matches of IPL 2026. The chase looked almost impossible at one stage, but young batter Mukul Choudhary played a fearless knock of 54 not out from 27 balls to guide LSG to 182 for 7 in 20 overs. The win came on the final ball and shocked the home team, Kolkata Knight Riders.
KKR post strong total
Batting first, KKR scored 181 for 4 on a pitch that was not very easy for big hitting. Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi gave the team a steady start and kept the scoreboard moving. In the last overs, Rovman Powell scored 39 not out and Cameron Green added 32 not out to take the total close to 180.
For LSG, Mohammed Shami and Prince Yadav bowled well in the death overs and stopped KKR from reaching a bigger total.
LSG struggle in the chase
The run chase started badly for Lucknow Super Giants. Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram were out early. Captain Rishabh Pant could not score freely and made only 10 runs. Nicholas Pooran also got out quickly for 13.
Ayush Badoni kept LSG in the match with a fighting 54. He played smart cricket and handled the pressure well. But when he got out, LSG still needed many runs in the last overs.
Mukul Choudhary changes the game
With 30 runs needed from 12 balls, the match looked finished. However, Mukul Choudhary showed great confidence and power hitting. He attacked Kartik Tyagi and then hit two big sixes off Vaibhav Arora in the final over. On the last ball, Avesh Khan managed a bye run, which completed an unbelievable win.
Conclusion
This victory gives LSG strong momentum in the tournament and introduces Mukul Choudhary as a new finisher to watch. For KKR, it was a painful loss as they controlled most of the match but failed to finish well. The match at Eden Gardens will be remembered as one of the best last-over chases of the season.
