The Gabriel Martinelli Arsenal Sale story has taken a turn after Galatasaray submitted a formal £38 million (€45m) offer for the 25-year-old Brazilian winger. Turkish champions Galatasaray have made Martinelli their leading attacking target for Europe, according to transfer specialist Florian Plettenberg, as detailed by Goal.com.

Martinelli produced 11 goals and seven assists in 53 appearances during 2025/26. His Arsenal record stands at 62 goals in 278 matches. Europe produced six Champions League goals in 14 games, despite one league goal in 30 outings. Leandro Trossard has left for Besiktas, while Christos Tzolis has arrived as Arsenal’s new left-wing option.

Gabriel Martinelli Arsenal Sale faces a serious test

Arsenal should reject the proposal. Plainly. This matters right now. A £38.4m fee for a 25-year-old Brazilian international with extensive Premier League and Champions League experience doesn’t reflect what Arsenal would need to pay to replace him, in a market where proven wide forwards command eye-watering fees.

Yes, Martinelli’s league form lends some logic to Galatasaray’s approach. One goal in 30 matches isn’t good enough for a player of his standing, while Arsenal’s first Premier League title in 22 years makes sales easier to justify. Yet six Champions League goals in 14 matches tell another story.

Gabriel Martinelli Arsenal Sale would weaken Arteta’s options

Trossard’s departure changes the equation. Arsenal have brought in Tzolis, but relying heavily on one fresh signing on the left would leave Mikel Arteta short of proven depth, particularly after the pursuit of Vinicius Junior collapsed. Selling Martinelli before the Community Shield against Manchester City would create a problem for Arsenal to solve before the season starts.

Another reason matters. Martinelli isn’t pushing for an exit, and reports indicate reluctance about moving to the Turkish Super Lig, as he prefers an elite European league. Arsenal hold his contract until 2027 and can extend it to 2028, so Arsenal face no urgent financial squeeze.

Why Gabriel Martinelli Arsenal Sale makes little sense

Arsenal’s squad-trading approach can produce useful funds, but this deal looks too cheap. A valuation closer to £60m makes more sense given Martinelli’s age, pedigree and remaining upside. The club can retain him, use him as a rotation option and give him time to recover his league touch.

That matters because replacing him would cost far more than the £38m received. The Gabriel Martinelli Arsenal Sale should therefore be rejected unless Galatasaray dramatically improve their offer.
