Chelsea‘s 2025–26 season has been pretty rocky behind the scenes. Big names like Marc Cucurella and captain Reece James have already shared their frustrations about where the club are heading. Hence, the owners have reportedly told key players that they plan to bring in some experienced, proven winners this summer to shore up the defence, midfield, and attack.
Things could get even more complicated if Enzo Fernandez follows through on his plan to hand in a transfer request for Real Madrid, a move that would leave a massive hole in Liam Rosenior’s midfield. The Blues are definitely at a turning point, and this upcoming window will likely decide how the next few years look for the club.
1. Jules Koundé – Defender, Barcelona
Chelsea have jumped back into the race for the French international. New reports suggest the club are ready to make a serious run at the Barcelona right-back, who might be available for about €80 million as the Spanish side try to balance their books. Koundé brings exactly what Rosenior’s defence is missing right now: a calm head on the ball and years of experience at the top level. He’d be a massive upgrade from day one.
2. Julian Alvarez – Forward, Atlético Madrid
The numbers tell the whole story here. Liam Delap has scored only 3 goals in 29 games since moving from Ipswich, whereas Alvarez has scored 40 goals and recorded 13 assists in 89 games for Atlético since 2024. The gap in quality is obvious. Ally McCoist even mentioned that Chelsea could offer Alvarez more consistent minutes than Arsenal, especially since their squad is so young and has so much room to grow. It’s a move that really makes sense for everyone involved.
3. Morgan Rogers – Midfielder/Forward, Aston Villa
Rogers has been on fire this year with 17 goal contributions in 42 games. Word is he’ll look to leave Villa Park if the team doesn’t make the Champions League. Since Chelsea and Villa are battling for that same European spot, finishing ahead of them would make this deal much easier to pull off. Rogers has that energy and versatility the squad needs, plus he already knows the Premier League inside out, which is something Rosenior is desperate for.

4. Gonçalo Ramos – Striker, PSG
Chelsea are reportedly already talking to the Portuguese striker about a summer move. Ramos is a natural goalscorer who has proven himself in Europe. With Delap struggling in his first year at the Bridge, bringing in a striker with a proven track record of leading the line is a smart move the club needs to prioritise.

5. Sandro Tonali – Midfielder, Newcastle United
Chelsea have reportedly been in the loop about a potential move for the Italian midfielder. If Enzo Fernandez does leave, Tonali has the engine and the skill to step into that role without the team losing a step. Now that he’s back from his suspension and playing his best football again at Newcastle, he’s exactly the kind of gritty, leader-type player this dressing room needs right now.
