His form has attracted serious attention across Europe. Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham Hotspur continue to monitor his situation, while Arsenal would reportedly receive 17.5 per cent of any future transfer fee through the sell-on clause included in his move to Monaco. That agreement leaves the French side with little reason to negotiate a lower fee.

Balogun deserves credit for his resurgence because his finishing looked calmer, his movement became far more intelligent, and he consistently punished defensive mistakes. Even so, Chelsea spending €50 million on another striker feels difficult to justify.
Xabi Alonso demands constant movement, quick combinations and clever occupation of central spaces from his number nine. Balogun thrives when attacks open up, and defenders leave space behind them. Those qualities suit transition football brilliantly, yet Chelsea often face deep defensive blocks where patience and intricate link-up play become far more valuable.
There is another issue. Chelsea already have a crowded attacking department and remain open to selling David Datro Fofana as they trim the squad. Adding another expensive centre-forward would increase competition without solving an obvious weakness elsewhere on the pitch.
