Arsenal are chasing Real Madrid’s young star Victor Valdepenas. They want to bring in more top-tier talent to keep their defence strong. The Daily Mail says the Premier League leaders watched the 19-year-old for a long time. Now, they are making their move during the winter window.

Arsenal Eye Real Madrid Prodigy Victor Valdepenas

This chase shows a clear plan in North London. Arsenal are looking for young players who can help out right away and lead the team for years. Valdepenas just made it into the Real Madrid first team. He really impressed the coaches at the Bernabéu with his calm play and smart positioning when he debuted against Alavés in December.

Arteta’s Vision and the Valdepenas Factor

Mikel Arteta’s squad are currently four points clear at the top of the table in February 2026. Their defensive unit has dominated, allowing less than a goal every two games. William Saliba and Gabriel Magalhães are the main starters in the middle. However, Arteta swaps his full-backs around a lot to keep his 4-4-2 or 3-2-2-3 systems working.

Valdepenas would give some much-needed rest to Riccardo Calafiori and Jurriën Timber. The teenager is comfortable as a left-footed centre-back or an attacking full-back. The Spaniard is 1.88m tall and very strong, but he’s also great on the ball. He can pick out teammates from deep with really accurate passes.

He hasn’t played much at the top level yet. Still, the defender’s time with Real Madrid Castilla shows he can handle the intensity of the Premier League if he has the right environment. Arsenal have to figure out if they should pay his €50 million release clause now. Other clubs like Borussia Dortmund are already circling and ready to move.

Real Madrid don’t usually let their best La Fábrica players leave easily. They’ll likely want a high price or a buy-back clause, which makes things tough for the Gunners. Even so, the chance to work with Arteta might be enough to get Valdepenas to swap Madrid for London.
